BAHAREH BADAVI
WRITER, SHOWRUNNER, CREATOR…
Bahareh Badavi is an Iranian born Norwegian freelance writer based in Oslo. She started her career in advertising and worked for companies in Budapest, London and New York, before moving home to Norway and starting to write for TV. She is the co-creator and headwriter of the highly acclaimed series “Norsk-ish” (NRK 2020), which landed her on ELLE magazine’s “Women who made an impact in 2020” list. Before Norsk-ish, Bahareh was a staff writer on «Hotel Caesar”, Norway’s longest running evening soap series, as well as a writer on multiple children’s shows for NRK. After completing season one of Norsk-ish, Badavi worked as a content developer at NRK, where she facilitated ideas across all departments of the network, throughout the country, while also writing for various tv shows and completing season two of Norsk-ish (2023).
In her work, Badavi has a special focus on exploring themes surrounding identification and belonging. She also has a burning commitment to diversity and young talent and is one of the founders of the industry program "New Voices", which aims to recruite more diverse storytellers into the Norwegian film and TV industry. She was also a 2023 receiver of the Arts and Culture Norway work grant and is currently developing her first political thriller series.
Badavi is a board member of The Writer’s Guild of Norway as well as a member of the project group for Oslo Series Days, one of the premiere industry TV festivals in the Nordics.
